Does anyone else find the fines being given out for supporting Michael Vick ridiculious? I mean understand not agreeing with what Vick did, however fining players for sticking up for him?
Ex. DeAngelo Hall from Atlanta Falcons was fined recently for supporting him however they went through college together, had same classes and now they are in the same town and same team.
Of course he is going to stick of for Michael, their friends.
Am I the only one that finds these fines unneccasary?

Those fines are unnecessary and completely pointless. I’m sure the NFL players who are fined will feel the same way.

The NFL needs to stop giving out fines for little things like this. They’re just sticking up for their teammate. They said they gave the fines for displaying personal messages. Many players wore tributes to Sean Taylor a few weeks ago, are they going to fine them for that. Although this is quite different circumstances, it still doesn’t deserve a fine. Fines are for dangerous play and un sportsmanlike activities, like the ravens player who threw the flag into the stands. I also disagree with the fines given for speaking out against officials, freedom of speech anyone?
it depends..if they were warned then I don’t have a problem with it..if they weren’t then yea it bothers me..just like someone else said where DOES that fine money go?
I think the players are aloud and completely should stick up for their buddies. But i also beleive that those kinds of things should be done of off the field. I think that although the fines are unneccesary, that these guys with their monster paychecks can swing those fines.
I don’t condone what Vick did either, I agree that these fines are just as ridiculous as when someone like Chad Johnson gets fined for trying to be creative when he scores a TD.
The fines were for uniform violations. There are uniform violations give out every week for something or another, it was not because of Mike Vick.
Well, the good news such as it is, is that all fines go into a pool that is distributed to several charities.

Right or wrong, the NFL vigorously enforces it’s dress code, and ultimately its image. They leave no room for interpretation, and don’t allow employees to pay tribute or recognize their causes, losses, grieving, whatever.
Many of these fines are arbitrary and unnecessary, but Michael Vick IS very polarizing, and the NFL does not want to be seen as endorsing or recognizing him in any way shape or form.
It’s in the rules, and players know that…
not ridiculous. An NFL game is a place of employment. They weren’t fined for something they said at home, or in a bar, but for something they did while they were at work.
They weren’t fined for going to visit him in prison, or showing up at his court hearings, which would be really showing support.
The league is trying to control the image that it presents, just like any employer has the right to set a dress code, or tell you how to answer the phone, or keep you from inserting political messages at the bottom of your emails.
That is so ridiculas!! What Michael Vick did was horrible and he deserves to be in jail for what he did but…. a friend that has been a friend for years wont turn his back on you for that. I think support for a team mate/friend is totally irrelevant to football and especially to the NFL! What will they fine the players for next? Not liking another player? Or maybe even what kind of hair they have?
The fines were not about support for Vick. The players violated NFL rules regarding personal messages on their uniforms. The league has very strict uniform rules, the players are fully aware of these rules and yet these 5 violated them anyway. The fines were legit, the players involved have no reason to complain.
The NFL has become money hungry and money grubbing!!! Shit people use to get away with before Goodell stepped into his current position they would normally let slide. Not any longer. Because fine the players and teams and make money!! But that money goes into bonus checks.
They also want to expand into Europe and Canada that means more money for NFL!!
Welcome to the New NFL the fines are just more cash in their pockets.
Come on lets face it how many coaches and players talked crap about the game and the calls… It’s been common practice however Goodell went into position no one was fined for it.
Some claim it’s to bring class into the game, bottomline it’s to bring bonuses into Goodell’s check.
