The season is looking pretty grim for the Falcons. Shockley down, Joey Harrington at starting QB, Chris Redman as a backup, and I don’t even need to mention the situation Vick is in…

If you were the Falcons GM what would you do to resolve this cancer of a problem called the QB position?

Personally, I’d do a sign and trade and give the Raiders the rights to Mike Vick’s contract for JaMarcus Russell. You know Al Davis is game! We’d just have to play around the numbers to make the deal financially feasible.
yackyz - you underestimate Al Davis! He’d do it. I mean JaMarcus is going to sit out the entire year anyway. He’d gamble that Vick wouldn’t get banned from the NFL and be able to play.
Booty? I think they’d get Brian Bohm over Booty.
Rob Johnson? I’d rather take my chances with Joey Overhyped-Underachieve Harrington… Good answer though.
Daunte Culpepper. Yes; why the Falcons didn’t go after him after he was cut by the Dolphins ceases to amaze me…
Remember Al Davis, signed Aaron Brooks, Andrew Walters, need I continue?
David Garrard - Yes!
Billy Volek - Joey Harrington Jr. :-( Kyle Boller - I’d take him over Harrington
Daunte Culpepper - Yes !
Chris Simms - why not? I’d take him
Kurt Warner - Yes !

i would trade whatever it takes to get booty from usc—id do a draft day trade ala mike ditka and trade the franchise for him

Not even Al Davis could touch Vick right now! Forget about some wacky trade. NFL won’t allow it. Falcons gotta go with the Joe! They could also place a call to Rob Johnson. He could use a job.

penichillin on 6 January, 2009 at 12:37 pm #

They should forfeit the whole season and try to sell the franchise to someone in LA.

There is no way that any GM in football would take on the contract of Vick right now. He is the second highest payed player in the NFL. Not even Al Davis is stupid enough to give away his first round pick for a 100 million dollar contract that is just wasting money. The only thing that the Falcons can do is waste this season with Harrington at QB and sign Daunte Culpepper next year as a free agent, or trade a 2nd round draft pick right now for Culpepper. Culpepper has actually looked pretty good in camp and the preseason so I think he is actually going to put up pretty good numbers this year.

Vick won’t play in the NFL again. Al Davis only takes good passers. Do any of these things make it sound like Vick could be a Raider?

Stonewall Jackson on 16 January, 2009 at 12:53 am #

Al Davis is not that stupid! Vick isn’t even a good QB. Vick isn’t coming back anyway ( in the 1% chance that he does, it won’t be at QB)

BaTTleTacTix on 18 January, 2009 at 6:57 am #

If I were the falcons I wouldn’t even play defense this season… I would just onside kick the ball every chance I got and try to get Joey Harrington to just huck the meat towards the end-zone. haha

Hey, you never know Joey might actually start to do what he was supposed to do when he first went to Detroit… be a great QB…

Could try and trade for a QB

David Garrard
Billy Volek
Kyle Boller
Daunte Culpepper
Chris Simms
Kurt Warner
Trent Dilfer
David Carr
Damon Huard (if he does not start)
Derek Anderson
Bruce Gradkowski
Josh Mccown
Kelly Holcomb

or others

Thats is a good trade, I would also consider getting one of the bears QB maybe Orton or Greise, because ATL really just need someone to stir the ship until Brohm or Booty comes out. They need a new face of the franchise. Some one Petrino can polish can let him run his offense. I dont see ATL doing much this year but this can be a year for them to see what they have so the following year they can get someone to run the offense and just expect them to not lose the game until they get someone they will win the big ones.

There is not much left out there to choose from so Harrington, who I don’t know how is even still in the league, will have to get it done. What I am more worried about is the future of Falcons. Vick was suppossed to be our guy for the next few years. Looks like the Falcons are gone from playoff contender to top 3 draft picker.

Terrence W on 23 January, 2009 at 3:46 pm #

they are stuck there is no situation they will play with harrington this year. they will win 3 games. and they will have the first pick which they will use to get Brohm. this will be in order to get him back with his college coach.

Marc O'Panda on 24 January, 2009 at 8:29 pm #

make the best of the season. Hope for a high draft pick and draft Brohm out of Louiville, he already knows the coach and offense.

It’s hard to say. The Falcons and the NFL are waiting to see what Mike’s sentence is going to be. After that, they both will hand out their own punishment accordingly. I think what is going to happen is, Mike will be banned indefinitely by the NFL and that only means, he can’t come back until they say so. Now this gives them lead way to let him serve his time, just say he’s sentenced to 12 months. He gets out in 6 and then says his, I’m sorry’s and the NFL reinstates him. Now this leaves everything up to the Falcons, if it were me. I would keep Mike, eat what I have to, referring to his contact monies. Then next year have a high draft pick and you have the option then, to either keep him and hope that he’s turned his life around or offer some team a trade for a draft pick and have 2 high first rounders. Then next year, the team will have a year under Patrino and everything be all peachy….. Of course this being a perfect world…. :)

They might wanna consider getting on their knees and begging the Texans to give Matt Schaub back!! Since that wont happen stick with Harrington. They dont really have alot to bargain with to pick up a quality starter. They should be able to pick fairly high in the draft. Dont be surprised to see Petrino do all he can to get himself in a position to draft Brian Brohm. He knows Petrinos system better than Vick would have anyway
