For the past few seasons, Michael Vick has been the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Because of Dog Fighting Charges and a Guilty Plea, Vick is unable to play NFL Football for the Atlanta Falcons in 2007.

My question is, how do you see the Atlanta Falcons performing in 2007 without Michael Vick playing for the season?

Not well. Drama around a team always seems to wreak havoc on their abilities. Look what happened to the Raiders in the Super Bowl when Barrett Robbins went MIA. They imploded. So will the Falcons, IMO.

Depends on the coaching. How do they revamp their system knowing that they don’t have two running backs.

Actually you guys are going to be horrible.

1) Remember you have a new coach running a new offense.

2) He’s (patrino) never coached in the NFL or NFC South before, that’s an added negative.

3) Joey Harrington is your starting QB(sp)

4) Your running game is led by a 175lb back with big heart, but he will not be able to carry to load all year. Norwood is a good back, but i’m not sold on him until he stays healthy game to game.

5) I expect the saints to run up about 60pts per game against you guys also

….your team will be relocated to L.A. after week 10.

4-12 no qb no chance

About as well as the Miami Dolphins the year Ricky Williams retired or the Detroit Lions the year Barry Sanders retired or when Terrell-gate rocked the Eagles.

I don’t think it is the fact that Vick was such a wonderful player, but rather that it has brought so much media attention to this team for the wrong reasons. Too many players are going to be harassed all year long about how they are performing now as opposed to how they would if Vick were there. We’ll see or hear at least one of the players or coaches blow up about all the stupid attention which will lead to the great can they handle the pressure? debate. I believe they have the players and the coaching staff to eek out at least 6-7 wins this year even with the attention, but the media are going to bash them and get down on them no matter what.

they’re not going to do well. first, their backup quarterback got hurt, so now they’re stuck with some guy who doesn’t know the team and isn’t used to playing with these guys. and, they’ve always relied on michael vick to be their star, which was a mistake. i don’t like the falcons, but i feel kind of bad for them since michael vick put them in such a bad position (even though it is kind of their own fault.)

Atlanta went to the dogs

They would have been a lot better if they had kept Matt Schaub. I can’t see them winning more than 5 games this season with a college coach and Joey Harrington as the starting QB.

For more on the Falcons and the NFL. check this site out.

They are going to suck - Vick was expected to carry the team. He let everyone down. He was their biggest asset.

Stars In Your Eyes on 11 January, 2009 at 10:12 pm #

They are better off but that is from an emotional stand point. Pre-season wise they are off to a good start. Maybe the Falcons are the underdogs this year. The Minnesota Vikings had their scandal last year, if you remember. How well did they do?

Oh, who cares? I’m a Patriots fan! Booyah!

I have Atlanta as my Suprise team.. they probably won’t make the playoffs but 2 talented speedy backs behind a line built for the run.. Petrino is unproven on the pro level but face it.. the guys a winner.. (wonder if he’d be there had Auburn higher ups had their way and he was coaching there in 2004 instead of tubberville?).. the defense should be decent if not solid.. and they have something to prove while having no expectations (which is dangerous).. I say about 8-8 and just miss the playoffs.. either way they’re drafting a QB in the first round because Harrington sucks and even the addition of Joe Horn won’t help him be good

I’m going to laugh when Atlanta wins the super bowl with Joey Harrington…I mean that’s just ridiculous, right?

kingwill34 on 19 January, 2009 at 8:16 pm #

Well it depends will the back up QB step up like Jeff Garcia, leading the Eagles to the playoffs. also will they will have to have a good running game to take pressure off of joey harrington. Joe horn has to play like he was with the saints and also the defense has to step up every week. if everthing works out they should be at least a contender. but if the runing game don’t work, and defense don’t step up… don’t even count on a 5-11 record
Best scenario= 8-8
Worst Scenario= 2-14

The same as if he was playing this year….poorly….VICK is/was OVERATED!

Bonnie D on 21 January, 2009 at 12:16 pm #

Actually, I think the fact that this has been somewhat resolved will be good for the team. They know they won’t have Vick at least this year and they have had time to prepare for that (I mean we all knew this was going to happen after the scandal hit). I also have a feeling that the loss of Vick AND his bad attitude is going to actually be good for team morale.

gamemastergamer on 22 January, 2009 at 7:08 am #

3-13.

They need to do everything they can to get the Louisville QB for Petrino.

blacktalon56 on 24 January, 2009 at 6:33 pm #

The Falcons are a team in transition going from primarily a running team to more of a passing team.
The loss of Vick will impact their running yardage totals but the new scheme using a more conventional QB in Harrington will improve their passing totals, resulting in a more balanced attack.
Warrick Dunn and Jarious Norwood should provide a potent one two punch in the run game with the holes being created my their brusing FB Ovie Mugelli.
Overall, the Falcons reciever corps are underated.
The addition of Horn has had a positive effect on their 2 former 1st round picks (White and Jenkins) plus (rookie) Lorent Robinson is looking like a veteran in camp and the 2 pre season games.

The real key to the Falcons potential 07 sucess actually lies in the defence.
They have a talented core group but injury issues have kept them from ever reaching their full potiental.
Abraham, Brooking, Hall, Malloy, Coleman and Anderson spearhead a potientally dangerious group but they have to stay healthy because of depth issues on the D -line.

The last time I checked the NFC still sucked so, the Falcons should do OK with a bright future after getting all that Vick money back in 08.
